World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed at the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
In the endgame, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your equipment is to use Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system lets players increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When a player upgrades a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could make the item more expensive if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a completely different set of bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can use up many resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like dolphins). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is very useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The upgrader for items allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to go to its original state, requiring the player to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. item upgrader called Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items might have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. However, players will need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
